i am amazed at the people who compete in the olympics. so much dedication. so much practice. so much sacrifice.
for what? what do they feel when they win or lose? has it all been worth it? some of those gymnasts do not even know what it means to be a real teenager. what about those people who got hurt right as they got to china. ouch! how sad.
i have been reading some blogs by people who love jesus and God more than anything. what is the reward? what is the sacrifice? to achieve what? how do they justify the immoralities, the pain, the sadness, the tragedy that surrounds their every moment.
what about forgiveness. how can some people say they love God and yet won't even forgive a family member or a best friend for a betrayal. Doesn't the bible say something about how people are to love each other as jesus loves us. yet, how many of these christians i read about and meet that do not even love hardly anyone like jesus loves. how does jesus love? how do we share that love? what is love? lots of questions - still seeking!

glad to hear you are reading John! about "the Word" ... it is describing Jesus. and in verse 5 He is the "light" so maybe reread it knowing that. Jesus was in the beginning and when God's timing was right he sent him down to earth- "the word became flesh" to save us.
(also me and my sister share a dorm apartment- theres 6 girls to a single apartment...its pretty sweet! and no worries about my dad. i do not get up set anymore about it.) - and going a long the lines of forgiveness it took me a LONG time to forgive him. longer than it should have- and thats where a lot of Christians do mess up. we are indeed human but you are right- we are called to love as Jesus loved- a selfless, unconditional love- and it even saddens me how many "Christians" do not apply the Word and love the way they should. We show that love through our actions
1 John 3 16-20
"This is how we've come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves. If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God's love? It disappears. And you made it disappear. My dear children, let's not just talk about love; let's practice real love. This is the only way we'll know we're living truly, living in God's reality. It's also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves."
Christians are called to be imitators of Christ. We share God's love by loving others as ourselves and Loving God with all our heart, mind and soul.
for your question on what is love? God is love. read 1 john 4:7-21.
keep seeking girl and you will find :)
praying for you!
